Description

From the bestselling series that began with Tree: A Peek-Through Picture Book comes an elaborate and beautiful children's book with peek-through holes that celebrates the coziness of home through the eyes of the animal world.
"All of us need a place to rest: A cave, a warren, a pond, a nest. Wherever we may choose to roam, we need a place to call our home."
A family of bears wanders through the forest, spying all the different places animals call home, including a bird's nest, a beaver lodge, an icy river full of fish, and a maze of rabbit burrows. Finally, as the snow falls, the bears come home to their cozy cave to hibernate, safe and warm.
This comforting celebration of home and nature will enchant children as they peek through the holes on each page to spy each animal. It's the perfect way for families to share a love of science and nature, while cuddled up together in their own homes.

From School Library Journal
PreS-A bear cub explores different kinds of animal homes before settling in a cave for winter hibernation with its mother. Cutouts reveal each animal's home as the cub visits habitats on land, underground, and above it. Repetition, rhyming, and alliteration are used to great effect and make this an excellent read-aloud for young listeners. Teckentrup is brilliant and playful; as usual, her vibrant illustrations are the best part of this ongoing series. Each established environment is full of wonder, with the inquisitive bear cub accompanying readers until winter comes. The addition of occasionally scientific vocabulary provides possibilities for continued learning. VERDICT A definite purchase where the series is popular.Rachel Zuffa, Case H.S., Racine, WIα(c) Copyright 2011. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
