About the Author James Kirby Martin is the author of eleven books and teaches history at the University of Houston.Randy Roberts is Curator of Special Collections and University Archivist at Pittsburg State University. He is the author of ZaSu Pitts in Parsons, Kansas and coauthor of the photographic history Pittsburg, Kansas.Steven Mintz received his B.A. degree from Oberlin College and his Ph.D. from Yale University. He taught at Oberlin before joining the Department of History at the University of Houston where he is Assistant Professor.Linda O. McMurry is a Professor of History at North Carolina State University, and author of George Washington Carver: Scientist and Symbol and Recorder of the Black Experience: A Biography of Monroe Nathan Work. She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
