Social Capability and Long-Term Economic Growth

In papers revised from their presentation at the Korea Development Institute's Twentieth Anniversary Symposium on Economic Growth and Social Capabilities, held in the summer of 1991, economists study a number of important issues associated with social capability. The papers, which range from theoretical studies to detailed case studies of the development experiences of Asian, Latin American, and socialist economies, are geared to the development of a long-term growth theory and to economic development policies, focusing on the dynamic relationship between the social capability to manage scarce resources and long-term growth.
