Heat Transfer in Medicine and Biology

Volume I outlines the physical principles and-mathematical formulation of physiological heat transfer science. Throughout the work, the results of numerous experimental studies are integrated with analytical models and the experimental-theoretical comparisons are critically evaluated. The fundamentals of thermoregulation are described in homeotherms under normothermic and pathologic conditions and during exercise and heat stress, sleep, and hibernation. Subsequent chapters examine a variety of heat transfer problems that are amenable to analysis by analytical and numerical techniques and discuss the advantages and limitations of those techniques. A review of elementary heat transfer principles is provided in an appendix.
