China under Mao

A collection of essays concerning aspects of China that are influencing the rest of the world, as first appearing in the respected British journal 'The China Quarterly'. The 24 contributions cover such topics as the changing internal structure of China, its foreign policy, military affairs, the economy and industrialization, agriculture and the communes, education, art and science, and family life. The selections cover the full time-span of China's experience under the Mao dynasty. The major focus is on the 1950s and 1960s.
