In typical Jan Karon style, Father Tim is a relatable character. In this book, we see a flawed and human side of him, as he comes to terms with his painful history. The locations are heartfelt and almost recognizable, and the assorted characters are written with compassion and warmth. It is a good stand-alone story, but I was really happy to be able to read on in her later books.
