I returned an incorrect rental book. What do I do?

If you accidentally returned the wrong rental book to BooksRun, don’t worry—there’s a process in place to help you recover your item.

Check Your Email First

BooksRun sends rental return notifications from [email protected]. These emails include:

  • Titles of the books due for return

  • ISBNs (International Standard Book Numbers)

  • Return due dates

Tip: Always double-check this email before shipping your books to ensure you're sending the correct items.

If you've mistakenly sent us a book that doesn't match your rental:

  1. Locate the Correct Rental:

    • Find the original rental book that was supposed to be returned.

  2. Send It Back ASAP:

    • We can only return the incorrect item once the correct rental is in transit to our facility.

You have two options:

  1. buy the label yourself and send us the PDF copy of it

  2. purchase the label with us and provide the payment in the amount of $8.95 via PayPal.

We will pack the book and ship it back to your address.

To return the item successfully, follow the instructions below:

2. Print Your Free Return Shipping Label

The label becomes available 25 days after the order placement. You should also generate the return label only when you are ready to ship, as shipping labels have expirations and cannot be reused after expiration. It’s important to note that the date shown on the return label reflects its expiration period for shipment purposes. This is distinct from the rental return due date, which has its own separate deadline to avoid late fees. Make sure to consider both deadlines when planning your shipment.

Choose one of two options to get your return label:

  • Option A: QR Code

    • Select the QR code option to show at the postal facility.

    • The mail carrier will print your label for you.

  • Option B: Print Label Yourself

    • Click the link “If you still want to print this label, click here”.

A printable label will be generated automatically for your order.

3. Pack Your Book Securely

  • A packing slip is not required if you're using the shipping label provided by BooksRun.

  • Review the Packing Guide to make sure your book arrives safely.

4. Ship the Book

  • Drop your package off at your local postal facility.

  • If using a QR code, just show it at the counter and they’ll take care of the rest.

Important Scanning Requirement: Prioritize having your package scanned at the post office before the return deadline. This creates a shipment record and validates the return within the required timeframe, helping to avoid late fees. Additionally, make sure to keep a record of the shipping tracking information as proof of transit to avoid any complications later.

Important note: rental orders cannot be submitted as buyback items. Attempting to sell a rental back through the buyback program violates BooksRun’s rental policy and may result in additional charges.

5. Email Confirmation

Once the book is checked back into the system, you will receive a notification to your contact email address.
