Before following the return instructions, it's essential to verify your order type — whether it's a rental or a purchase. Each type has different return procedures, and using the wrong method may impact your refund eligibility.
To easily check the type of order, please use the following guideline.
Registered Users:
Visit your orders page (you might need to log in before proceeding) and you will see the number of purchase or rental orders you currently have.

Unregistered Users:
To find the order information, check your email for the order confirmation sent by [email protected].
Tip: Your email provider may have automatically sorted BooksRun messages into another folder. Be sure to look in:
Spam
Junk
Promotions (especially in Gmail)
Social (in Gmail tabs)
Note: Emails sent to .edu addresses are especially prone to being filtered to the Spam folder due to stricter security settings for school email servers.
To prevent future emails from being filtered, add [email protected] to your:
Email contacts
Approved senders list
Whitelist (if applicable)
This helps your email provider recognize BooksRun messages as safe and deliver them directly to your inbox.
Inside the confirmation email, you'll find a blue button labeled “View order details.”
This button provides a direct link to your order summary
It works whether you're on a desktop or mobile device

Once you’re on the order details page, check the order label carefully at the top of the summary:
If the order is labeled:
"Purchase order #..."
→ This means your order contains only purchased item(s)
If the order is labeled:
"Rental order #..."
→ This means your order is either a rental order or a mixed order (contains both rental and purchase items)
If you placed an order that includes both a rental and a purchase, please note:
The order will still be titled as “Rental order #...”
Even if it includes a purchased item, the title will only reference the rental
This is normal and doesn’t affect your purchase. You’ll see both items listed once you open the order details.

You’ll be able to view:
Order type (e.g., purchase, rental)
Item information
Status of the order
Expected delivery or return dates
Tracking details (if applicable)
