Why is my buyback order under review?

"Under Review" status of a buyback order usually indicates that further inspection of your order is required. Below you can find the list of reasons for hold, and how to proceed for your order to be processed.

What We Are Checking:

"Awaiting reply" (after "Under Review") status may indicate that some of the items in your order have been received not in the condition stated by you during order confirmation. The adjustments are made in accordance with our Buyback Condition Guidelines.

• Poor condition

  The item received has been received with a damage significantly impacting its condition, such as:

  • water damage

  • torn pages/cover

  • detaching binding

  • markings and/or highlights on more than 30% of the book

  • excessive signs of wear.

• Markings in workbook

  Filled out workbooks are not eligible for our buyback program. The quote is downgraded significantly.

• Different ISBN

  The item received has a different ISBN than the one stated in the order. The quote is guaranteed only for the exact ISBN that has been initially quoted.

• Unacceptable condition

  The item was received with a damage preventing it from being further re-sold. No payment can be issued for such items. The damage in question may be:

  • fully detached binding

  • no ISBN on back cover or copyright page

  • item is a complimentary, free, not for resale, promotional copy, sample edition, exam copy, not for sale, preliminary edition, uncorrected proof

  • mixed-up pages in loose-leaf books

  • missing cards in card sets

  • mold

  • significant water damage

  • rebound books

  • missing cover

  • cigarette smell.

• Acceptable condition

The item received was originally quoted a "Very Good" condition, but the condition upon inspection showed more tear and wear. The condition is downgraded to "Acceptable".

• Supplements not included

The item implies that all supplementary materials (such as access codes, pamphlets, stickers, maps, schemes, etc.) are to be included, as the item cannot be used as a standalone.

• Incomplete set

The ISBN of the item sent implies it is a part/one volume of a set. The item does not carry a standalone ISBN and cannot be sold without other parts of the set.

• Teacher, instructor or professional edition

The item sold is marked to be a different edition other than regular US student edition. Full quote cannot be guaranteed.

Once an item from your buyback order is put on hold, you will receive a notification to your contact email address. The notification will state all the items that had their quotes adjusted, the amount of the adjustment, and the reason for the quote decrease. When the quote for a certain item is adjusted significantly, BooksRun sends notification letters concerning this matter along with the photos of the books that received adjusted quotes.

You will have 7 days to either accept or decline the adjustment. If you do not make a decision within the set time period, the adjustments will be accepted automatically by the system.

Note: After the order status is changed to "Pending payment" or "Paid", according to our Terms and Conditions (section "Buyback", subsection "Shipping and Returns"), the item of your order is no longer eligible for a return under any circumstances, we are not eligible to send back such books.

If you accept the adjustments, your order will stay on hold for a mandatory 48-hour period before being processed. You will receive payout with decreased quotes as stated in the adjustments.

If you decline the adjustments, you will need to pay a return shipping fee. The return fee is $4.99 for the first item, and $2.99 for each following item. The cost of the return fee includes:

1) shipping to our processing facility;

2) return shipping from our processing facility;

3) handling;

4) packaging.

Once the return is shipped out, you will receive a notification to your contact email address with the tracking number for the return.

If There Are No Notifications About Price Adjustments:

If your buyback order has "Under review" status and there are no notifications from [email protected] about price adjustments, it means your buyback is awaiting review due to some of the books requiring condition check. It greatly depends on ISBN of the item in question, since certain ISBNs require additional checking.

Notifications are generally not sent during the standard review, as no immediate action is required from your side. However, automatic updates, including payment notifications, are sent once the review is complete. In addition to email notifications, you can log into your BooksRun account to monitor your order progress and find detailed updates under the order details section.

• This review period typically takes 2–5 business days.

• Once the review is complete: your order will proceed, the status will change to "Pending payment," and payment will be issued.

BooksRun sends automatic notifications to your contact email when:

• There are any price adjustments

• The payment is issued
