How can we help?

My quote was adjusted. What do I do?

If your book didn't meet BooksRun's buyback criteria (due to condition), you may receive an adjusted quote and the order will have "Awaiting reply" status. Common causes may include ISBN mismatches where the shipped ISBN differs from the one quoted.

You can either accept the revised offer or request a return of your book — but action is required within 72 hours of processing. For instance, liquid damage, torn bindings, or missing supplementary materials such as CDs can cause a book to fail evaluation.

In order to determine which category the textbooks we receive fit, we use Amazon guidelines. The simplified version of those is presented on our website. You may also see our buyback condition guide for more information. Our processing department carefully inspects each and every book and distinguishes the items in accordance with a wide range of features.

For these reasons, the condition of the book in question was automatically changed, and its quote changed accordingly.

After the order status is changed to "Pending payment" or "Paid", according to our Terms and Conditions (section "Buyback", subsection "Shipping and Returns"), the item of your order is no longer eligible for a return under any circumstances.

If you accidentally include extra books in your shipment that weren’t part of the original quote, it’s advisable to notify BooksRun about the mistake and provide details like the ISBN. They might review and issue a payment offer for the unquoted item as a goodwill exception. Discrepancies between shipped items and quoted ones may also cause delays, as unquoted items require additional review before processing. To avoid such delays, it is highly recommended to evaluate the condition of each item accurately before shipping. Familiarizing yourself with the platform's quality standards and terms can help prevent discrepancies and ensure a smoother transaction process.

You’ll receive an email notification from [email protected] once your order is processed and a quote has been adjusted. When the quote for a certain item is adjusted significantly, BooksRun sends notification letters concerning this matter along with the photos of the books that received adjusted quotes.

If you do not take action within this period, the revised quote will be automatically accepted, and the processing of your order will proceed.

Understanding Quote Recalculations vs. Adjustments

When interacting with our platform, it's important to understand the distinction between recalculations and adjustments. Recalculations occur when clicking the 'Recalculate' option in your buyback order. This re-evaluates each item’s value according to the most recent market criteria and conditions before shipping. Items removed during recalculations should not be sent for buyback, as they are ineligible.

1. Open the Email Notification

  • Look for the subject line related to buyback adjustment

  • Click the “View Order Details” button in the email

2. Access Your Order

  • You’ll be redirected to the order details page

  • Scroll down to see two action options:

    • Accept Quote

    • Request Return

If You Accept the Adjusted Quote

  1. Select “Accept”

  2. Click “Proceed”

  3. Your order will be reprocessed within 48 hours

  4. Expect payment in 2–4 business days via:

    • PayPal (instant once issued)

    • Check by Mail (3–20 business days)

If You Request a Return

  1. Select “Request a Return”

  2. Click “Proceed”

  3. Your order will be reprocessed and prepared for return

Important Note: BooksRun does not cover return shipping costs for books with adjusted quotes. You will need to pay for the return shipping.

At our company, we strive to make the buyback process as smooth and cost-effective as possible. However, due to the high expenses associated with shipping and handling, free returns are not available for books whose quotes have been adjusted. This policy is clearly outlined in our Terms & Conditions and helps us maintain a fair and sustainable buyback program for all customers.

When you sell books through our buyback program, we provide prepaid shipping labels for your convenience. These labels cover the cost of sending your books to our processing facility.

However, if a book’s final quote is adjusted (for example, due to condition issues or mismatched ISBNs) and you choose to have it returned, you’ll need to reimburse the shipping expenses before we send the book back.
