books for libras

The middle of fall is a Libra season. So today, we’ve prepared our special book recommendations for Libras. In this review, we’ve picked three books in hopes of entertaining and fascinating these air signs: a family drama, a teen romance, and a beautifully devastating coming-of-age story.

Libra

September 23–October 22

As an air sign, Libra is usually associated with balance, harmony, and the desire to create equilibrium in all areas of life. Libras thrive and shine when surrounded by everything beautiful. Their ruling planet is Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and money. To make Libras happy, you need to surround them with art, intellectual challenge, and freedom of action. If Libra is your partner, rest assured, you’ll be living in a space infused with beauty. Imaginative but not prone to daydreaming, these air signs frequently prefer to work in the fields of arts and literature. And when it comes to literature, they love good romance books that fire their imagination.

So let’s take a look at the books we’ve selected:

Crazy Rich Asians

By Kevin Kwan

What Should Libra Read? 1

What do you do if you travel to spend the summer in Singapore with your boyfriend and find that instead of having quality time with him, you have to navigate the schemes of his crazy rich family (especially his mom)? How about the fact that he’s one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors? Well, get ready for a battle, obviously. Crazy Rich Asians will tell you all about Rachel Chu, who experienced it firsthand. If you still have hopes that a high-society Chinese family with money can accept just anyone, you’re delusional. Here, opinions meet, dramas take place, and relationships are put to the test. We are positive that the book has everything that would keep Libra’s curious for more: romance, passion, plenty of scheming, luxury and beauty, and a little bit of gossip. Besides, among other billionaire romance books, this one is outrageously funny and highly addictive. That’s why it has already become an acclaimed worldwide bestseller and got a movie adaptation in 2018.

Starry Eyes

By Jenn Bennett

What Should Libra Read? 2

Zorie and Lennon used to be inseparable. Now they are best enemies, who’ve been avoiding each other since the last homecoming. That’s when Lennon broke Zorie’s heart. Right. Now, it appears they are going on a glamping vacation in northern California. Together. Oh, God. But that’s not the end of the story: Zorie and Lennon will find themselves stranded in the wilderness and have to face each other literally and figuratively. We are positive that Starry Eyes will charm Libras even if they’ve long passed the age when romance books for teens were interesting. The book will definitely give you all of the feels, and it’s a perfect choice for romantic natures like Libras. Wait, there will be more: a bit of drama, a bit of grief, definitely some humor, and passion—definitely, too—all in the process of those two trying to get back home together in one piece.

On the Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous

By Ocean Vuong

What Should Libra Read? 3

The third book we’ve prepared for Libras is of a more serious and demanding nature. On the Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous is Ocean Vuong’s deeply poetic novel: a coming-of-age story of a young man who’s trying to understand his traumatic background (impacted by the Vietnam War) and get a connection to his inner self (since he’s also queer). As a young Vietnamese American writer, he writes a letter to his illiterate mother, where he blends his memories and feelings in an attempt to articulate and process them. Why do we think Libras (and pretty much everyone) should give this book a try? Because it’s a powerful exercise in empathy, written in such a language that makes it hard to be characterized or labeled: a memoir, or maybe a coming of age story, or a poem—or all of the above? We recommend practicing it a little at a time, as the subject is not the easiest. But we promise you won’t forget poetic Ocean Vuong’s observations in a hurry.
